Crouzon Syndrome Care
Dr. Chad Purnell provides craniofacial evaluation for children and adults with Crouzon syndrome in Chicago. Patients from across the country are welcome.
Crouzon syndrome commonly involves early fusion of skull bones, known as craniosynostosis. This can affect the growth and shape of the skull and face. An underdeveloped upper jaw and shallow eye sockets may contribute to dental, facial and eye-related concerns. Features and care needs differ from one person to another.
A craniofacial evaluation considers skull and facial growth, jaw alignment, breathing concerns and prior treatment. Dr. Purnell discusses surgical options in the context of a multidisciplinary plan, with attention to function, facial balance and the patient’s priorities. The timing and extent of treatment are individualized.
Adults with Crouzon syndrome may have questions about concerns that remain after childhood surgery or about further reconstruction. Previous surgical reports, imaging and dental records can help establish what has been done and what options may be appropriate now.
